Nebraska university's flagship #LNK campus reported 38 students less than 2024 enrollment, a drop of 0.2%.
There were 174 fewer international students amid changes to the visa process and uncertainties originating with the Trump administration's posture toward those students.
When asked whether he considered taking applications for the State Treasurer position, Gov. Jim Pillen said he runs government like a business and already had the best person in mind for the job.

Who is making money off the ICE work ethic prison in McCook by filling bed space like a hotel?
Taxpayers pay to house, feed and possibly provide resources so incarcerated people do not return to prison. #NEleg
Governor Pillen wants to hand Nebraska’s Work Ethic Camp in McCook over to ICE without legislative approval, public input, or transparency. This raises not just ethical concerns, but serious legal, fiscal, and safety questions. My colleagues and I are calling for answers.🧵

Nebraska federal representatives voted for Bigly Billionaire Bill that will pay for the Cornhusker Clonk detention center in McCook.
Small towns will see medical centers close due to lack of funding and get an ICE detention center instead.
An interesting tidbit about the McCook's ICE facility: Nebraska reached out to the Trump administration about offering space in the state for an immigration detention center.

Rep. Mike Flood won his 2024 re-election bid with 60% of the vote. He “won Lancaster County by nearly 5,600 votes.”
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT LAST WEEK: The hostile crowd Nebraska Republican U.S. Rep. Mike Flood faced this week in his district’s most Democratic city may have helped him choose to host the event.

CORN MAZE ALCATRAZ? Nebraska reportedly is being considered as a home to one of the state-run, federally funded migrant detention centers that U.S. Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem hopes to launch across the country similar to “Alligator Alcatraz.”
