FYI “Habeas Corpus” means “you shall have the body.” 🕊️
It’s a fundamental legal right that protects people from being imprisoned without a fair reason or trial. It ensures no one can be detained arbitrarily - safeguarding freedom and justice. ⚖️ #HumanRights #Justice

Q: Have you given any more thought to possibly suspending habeas corpus?

TRUMP: Suspending who?

Q: Habeas corpus

TRUMP: I don't know. I'd rather leave that to Kristi.

Let go of worry and embrace grace. 🌿 St. Eugene de Mazenod wrote: “…make the best of all that is given you… allow for what is human without being upset.” Peace grows when we accept life - and people - as they are. 🙏 #ThoughtForTheDay

That’s chilling - framing federal control of local cities as “help” is exactly how authoritarian systems justify power grabs. This takes state messaging to a whole new level - North Korean propaganda almost looks subtle by comparison. Disturbing to see this kind of rhetoric becoming normalized. 💔🇺🇸

Q: Do Democrats not have reason to be concerned that there are long-term plans by this administration to keep troops in American cities?

LEAVITT: Why should they be concerned about the federal govt offering help to make their cities a safer place?

From the archives… Love this photo! ❤️ A few years ago, our community gathered for the blessing of the new field at Cathedral High School. The smiles, laughter, and energy remind us that true joy endures, connecting us across the years. May that spirit inspire us today! 🤩

What a life! ❤️ After all the excitement at the Blessing of Animals at @stpatshamilton.bsky.social , Carlin came home, took a “swim” in the fountain, and is now soaking up the sunshine. Nothing beats moments like these! #BlessingoftheAnimals #DogLife🐾

This weekend’s reflection: Faith isn’t measured by size but by trust. Even a mustard seed can move mountains when planted in service. Let’s serve humbly, trusting God to do great things with our small “yes.” 🌱 #SundayReflection #FaithInAction

This morning I fully intended to go for a run… but then remembered it’s Carlin’s 9th birthday! 🎉🐾 There’s no better way to celebrate than a long birthday walk together — 7.6 km of fresh air, wagging tail, and pure joy. Here’s to many more adventures! ❤️🐕

Don’t ask if it’s hard - ask if it’s for God. 🌟 St. Eugene de Mazenod wrote: “Form the good habit of willingly doing everything everywhere for God, seeking nothing for oneself.” Serve with joy; selfless love transforms the world. 🙏 #ThoughtForTheDay

I stopped posting on Trump’s stuff - the madness is overwhelming. Still, I’m deeply concerned for our southern neighbours 💔🇺🇸 and how it all spills into our own country. 🇨🇦 It’s troubling to witness authoritarian regime and fascism rise so openly in our times. But I hold hope in our shared resilience.

As a Catholic priest and confessor, I can say: Confession is a profoundly human encounter with God’s mercy. My hope is that all priests embody compassion and love at this sacrament, allowing people to truly feel God’s healing presence rather than judgment.

Beautiful Friday afternoon for some insightful fall reading… 🍂 Jefferson Fisher writes: “The key to responding to hurtful or offensive comments is to refuse to give in to their search for dopamine.” Wise words for both face-to-face and online conversations… and yes, I’ve had my fair share of those 😉

An amazing group of students from St. Mary High School’s Drama Leadership Program volunteering today at our #DeMazenodDoor Friday BBQ! This year, they're focusing on the poor and marginalized, preparing a special play featuring this ministry's story. Inspiring hearts and building community!
