In one of the games I ran, my wife's Babeester Gor intitiate managed to intimidate a drunken troll that wanted to fight. That troll nicknamed her "Little Scary" and the two of them crossed paths several times over the course of the game. They became close allies, saving each other's lives, etc.

Exactly. Trolls/Uz are cruel, capricious, and loyal, just as an example. They are a mix of good and bad traits generally, and its emphasized that each is an individual. I love that about it. I don't think I would ever want to play one, but I love running into them.

Its very human. IRL grudges are rarely all encompassing, but D&D has that right down at its core. I can respect that they've reduced it (I hear, not looked at D&D in decades) but its very baked into most of the settings (not really Eberron, or at least not without those IRL parallels like in RQ)

Yeah. And its interesting in Glorantha, because Aldryami, Mostali, and Uz are locked in this triangle of hate going back to the God Time, yet there are many occasions in which they have allied together. And its not just micro, personal level stuff, but also macro level. Its more distrust than hate

Iirc, Gygax has said something to the effect of orcs and goblins being comparable to Native Americans in westerns. I don't remember the exact quote, but there was a conscious connection there

I used Dragonbane to run Against the Cult of the Reptile Gods and it worked pretty well, using monsters from the DB bestiary (and generally reducing the numbers and swapping out the creatures not in DB as appropriate). It worked pretty well without any preprep. I just adjusted on the fly

I think more places requiring them and "creators" sales visibly suffering for it might actually get them to stop this shit... maybe

Only if you quicktravel (because time still advances, so you'll be in the sun without control of your character)

Can't forget the radical redistribution of elemental fire affinities either.
