In the barrage of US tariff imposts, two territories of Australia were singled out: One is Norfolk Island, the other is Heard Island and McDonald Islands. Heard Island is inhabited occasionally by scientific researchers and, more usually, by King penguins.

Is the motion for disqualification of Halligan and the consequent annulment of the indictment part of the defence motions to be discussed later or is it separate and coming first?

Did you notice the terrible suit the recent (very brief) French PM was wearing?

He first did it in 2019. The matter was never prosecuted, although it was referred to the AFP. I've wondered why but no answer as to why not is ever forthcoming from the AEC or DPP. The law should provide for a permanent ban from candidacy in such cases of repeat scofflaw behaviour.

"Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake.
Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you."

Someone should suggest that Trump appoint ambassadors to Kamaria and Musoria. It's 50% probable that he would.

And then there's the familiar incompetent effort at telepathy. If someone can determine what intent others have, they can become very rich selling their services to law enforcement.

A rifle belonging to someone else and locked in his gun safe at his house is not 'stashed'. And what's with the obsession with State lines? Unless there's a statute invoked whereby an offence is defined, it's meaningless. Tens of millions of people cross State lines lawfully every day.

You've heard the expression, "Wing and a prayer". Here it is.

Some searching reveals: It turns out that the Tribune referred to was a Sydney publication, existing from 1939 to 1991. There are several associated stories from them on the topic in the archives.

Yes, it's revenge.

Is this from a British newspaper?

It's strange how the Kult always recite the same lines: "Crossed State lines. With an assault rifle. Underage to possess gun. Member of a militia. To provoke people and justify killing them. Killed them cowardlily. Got away with murder. MAGA judge acquitted him." Somewhere there is a playbook.

The most remarkable part of this post is the phrase, "will bring a pro-Israel bias". Will bring?

This originally a Russian meme. The speech, which is cut off in the Hegseth version, says, "Кто ты, воин?" ("Who are you, warrior?") Accidentally appropriate.

Citizen's arrest is a perilous procedure. It boils down to what is reasonable and the person judging you has the final say.

The prosecutor agreed that the arrest was lawful; it was the restraint which was unreasonable. Some years ago, a would-be car thief was caught in a rural area of WA, bound with rope and driven in the back of a ute directly to a police station. The man who caught him was prosecuted.
