lmao amazing that even LAWA's own fact sheet says their $2 billion roadway won't reduce travel time

honestly shocked how quickly the G Line bridge is going up over Van Nuys

my favorite part of this project was realizing a short 24/7 bus lane though the Los Angeles Country Club qualifies and the 1/2 mile catchment will upzone a ton of mansions in Holmby Hills (falling just short of the Playboy Mansion)

pushback from homeowners in Lafyette square about digging K Line tunnels under their homes is getting Metro to study some wild alternatives

These are the guidelines. I wonder if this first round are just corridors that don’t require re-striping

I know Ktown has a reputation for a terrible place to find parking, but it also is immensely walkable and transit rich and I can't imagine many people would choose a few parking spaces over spending that money on *more parks*

without adjusting for inflation this new pocket park/underground garage is costing more than LA State Historic park which is more than 32 acres (and I think one of the best urban parks in LA)

Of what we are calling 'residential suitable land' (everything not green on the map), Multi-family housing and commercial zoning represent 47% (almost half!) of City property tax revenue but only 12% of land

looks like we aren't getting a budget summary from the Mayor this year (row that said "coming soon" has been deleted)

It's actually even worse - to prevent firing 100+ staff the Bureau of Street Lighting says they will need to focus on revenue generating contracts with DWP and may not repair streetlights for more than 2 YEARS

uh oh
April 16, 2025 at 1:32 AM
i think we can all agree the sidewalk is too wide here and a good way to burn $3 mil would be narrowing it 25% to fit a *second* left turn lane and chopping down 7 trees

LA Metro this month

For no reason, I'm think about how Metro's Vermont BRT project renderings chose to highlight the exact same intersection (3rd/Vermont) where we put up a billboard to bring attention to the deadliest street for pedestrians in the City of LA

high end sports car dealership turning into 100 apartments (11 low income) in Beverly Hills 🤙

absolutely wild that most car crashes you see in LA (likely including this one at Wilshire/Normandie) are no longer reported or added to city data

also shout out @streetsforall.org for passing AB2147 and HLA

ktown needs wider sidewalks

interesting to compare the state’s map with wildfire risk index from zillow

looks like metro's new subway trains are back in service after a few weeks - for anyone looking to ride one toggle the "vehicle" layer on @catenarymaps.org and look for a 400 series vehicle on the D Line to see its location
January 10, 2025 at 11:51 PM
metro really said merry christmas
December 20, 2024 at 11:59 PM
i think this was Metro D line staging for a while but does anyone know what’s getting built on the corner of Wilshire/Manhattan
