Imagine being told your entire identity doesn't exist anymore and you are who the state says you are. No matter how fully you have transitioned, or what legal hoops you have been through. This isn't paranoia, for trans people this is happening now.

Of course no mention of trans people's very valid fears about this. Our objection is not political or emotional - we've already been told, by the chair of the EHRC that we have NO right to privacy regarding our trans status. This whole discussion was between, and about, people with cis privilege.

I LOVED it - what you're doing that's quite different from other nostalgia podcasts is giving a bit of analysis. It's not just 'isn't it all fun?' - although it is - there's some social context too. And things I've never heard of like 'PC Penrose'. Really great 🤩

Trans people are like spiders. Everyone hates and fears us. The ones people notice are mainly female and are just trying to look after their families... but keep getting crushed underfoot while going about their day.

But... lots of people love and appreciate us too.

Yeah there are various challenges underway with the European Court 👍 Although of course, if you ask Keir Starmer he'll tell you the Supreme Court bought 'clarity' so as far as he's concerned it's all settled.

This is fantastic 😍 Although of course, if the interim guidance put out by the EHRC comes into law, the WI will be banned by the government from accepting transgender women as members. Be interesting to see how they would react to that, as they're famously a pushover. Just ask Tony Blair...

A challenge to a nationwide bathroom ban of trans people is likely to be successful at the ECHR. Then you'll see this specific issue leveraged to get us out of the ECHR altogether. If you want internationally agreed Human Rights the inconvenient truth is - that includes trans rights.

Pretty amazing in an article like this not to mention the government's attack on trans rights. The Supreme Court decision was a stitch up, now being used to undo all progress on trans rights. Progress which only happened because of the European Court of Human Rights in the first place.

They say the agenda will be decided by the members- but we can presume there are red lines. Like Gaza and child poverty. Trans rights MUST be one of those clearly stated red lines, or no deal.

This is a vision of the future as the establishment tries continually to placate extremists (terfs) who won't be happy until all gender non-conformists are rounded up and thrown in camps. And probably won't even be happy then.

M&S have managed to anger trans people and allies for apologising that someone who was *perceived* as trans even worked there, AND angered JKR and the terfs because they haven't outright banned employees who don't look 'female enough' from certain areas of the store...

They're saying 'real' women this way, everyone else (including trans women) this way.

So it's true Primark have chosen trans exclusion. This is a choice because there is no legal guidance yet.

To be clear, this is couched in language that appears inclusive at first. But they won't be including trans women in their definition of 'women only'.

It's a great idea to stop children reading books about being transgender. There were no books about that when I was a kid, and that's why I'm not trans.
