Not saying it’s oil but Venezuela have the largest verified oil reserves on the planet and aren’t in any hurry to drill it (they produce 10x less oil than the Saudi Arabia yet have about 20% larger reserves)… so it could be oil.

I'm posting some of my old Tides of History intro scenes. They're short examples of sociological storytelling, trying to humanize large-scale trends over time through an individual's perspective. First one: A day in the life of an Archaic Greek woman, c. 770 BC open.substack.com/pub/patrickw...

The Nazis were indeed bad. Dancing around the issue of whether a one-armed salute was or wasn't the Nazi version is missing the basic point that anything even mildly redolent of those absolute piece of shit bastards should be off limits.

Yo estaba teniendo un día relativamente bueno hasta que me crucé con este video y me acordé de la negligencia del gobierno con los recintos universitarios.

Pero ese es el plan, destruir las universidades públicas para que no tengan matrícula y justificar el cierre.

If you know someone who's chronically or terminally ill, or you yourself interact regularly with insurance companies and the providers relying on them, you've almost certainly experienced the system's cruelty, deliberate obfuscation, and straight-up lies about access to care. It's brutal.

There are serious concerns with election fraud in Puerto Rico, but no coverage in US mainstream media. Why? Because PR’s comprador class maintains US Colonial interests at a time when third-party politicians and pro-independence sentiment in the world’s oldest colony are surging.

The week after January 6th I wrote a thing about how the people involved in these things don’t go away unless you make them go away using the full power and authority of the state. Otherwise, they’ll keep popping up over and over for decades.
There's a reason democracies don't let people who tried coups back into power.
