This happened in Manchester in 1987. The Burley Tree (Hulme) was cut down so a hotel could be built. No hotel was ever built. There is a monument to the tree on the wasteland that is left. Where is Swampy when you need him?

This is bloody awful from Toby Carvery, who have deliberately felled a 500 year old oak in Enfield. It goes together with the wider redevelopment of a very ecologically sensitive area to make a football ground for Tottenham.

Again, these are not the right priorities folks.

Every bike I have owned since my first Vindec Minor at the age of 11, I have named - it was called Jupiter. My current bike is called Silver Fox. The one before that was called Leonard (after a a guy who helped me with getting it) and before that Florence. I miss Florence.

I learned a new word:
Thagomizer: The spikes at the end of a Stegosaurus's tail. In Gary Larson's 1982 The Far Side comic strip a caveman lecturer refers "The thagomizer," in honor of "The late Thag Simmons," a victim of said spikes.
