Protesters in Serbia, Georgia, Romania & Hungary are currently flooding the streets to take back their countries from corruption / human rights abuses — they know firsthand how horrific authoritarian regimes are. We don’t have that experience here in the US. Pictured: Serbia

We're in struggle of our lives to save our Constitution from annihilation & country from authoritarian takeover. Congress isn't stopping the monstrous Trump / Musk Regime, and the courts may not stop them. There’s no guarantee we can stop them, but if we stay silent, they certainly will prevail.

Attended a packed Town Hall today with two former Idaho Congressmen: Larry LaRocco and Richard Stallings (both Dems), as they tour the state. These guys are on fire to make a difference. Our chicken Republican delegation is hiding, as they deeply betray their own voters.

“Kamiak 10: Canola”, 2024, oil on linen, 18x24”
Re-exploring the direction I developed studying in Italy. Studying there, the Italian landscape felt familiar to me - it draws certain comparisons w/ the Palouse landscape.

One of my Italian landscapes:
"VFM 23: Red Haze", 1997, oil on canvas, 14x14”

"Distant View", oil on board, 12x16"

Started this one on site last year, now I just completely reworked it in studio.

“Steptoe View: Smoky,” oil on linen, 23” x 30”

A poem to go with the painting…

THE OPPRESSION OF SMOKE
Oppression hangs thick in the air.
Gray is the preferred color.
Where one stands; the lay of the land; the horizon: all uncertain.

One more from my sickbed from last night. Hopefully I'm better now, fingers crossed.

"Hills & Sky", iPad

When lounging about in bed with a cold, iPad sketching is a constructive activity....better than endless doomscrolling, which I already do plenty of anyway.

“Decrepit (diptych)
oil on board, 11”x14” (each) / 22”x14” (diptych)

My uncle lived in this house years ago. A couple years ago, it was moved to a lot near my mom’s place. Recently, it wasn’t looking so good. Then just like that, it was reduced to rubble.

It is easier to destroy than to create.
