‘I can’t be silent. I’ve been through too much’: Dee Dee Bridgewater on singing with the greats – and confronting Maga with jazz
Fuelled by a loathing of Trump, the war in Gaza and anger at ‘the same old chauvinistic crap’, the 75-year-old – who cut her teeth with Dizzy Gillespie, Sonny Rollins and more – has no plans to stop p...

Yes, but the volume is so great we need a lot of people doing “careful textual analysis with deep attention to context.” My head spins at the thought.
Maybe it’s just the Humanities professor in me, but let it be noted that events of today (ahem) have demonstrated the value of being able to assess a large volume of qualitative data and do careful textual analysis with deep attention to context.

Exactly. The billionaires want to control ALL media so they can control workers, manipulate public opinion, refuse to pay taxes, and do as they please.
Let's stop pretending that the billionaire media, endlessly attacking the BBC, has the slightest interest in balance, impartiality and accuracy. They won't be happy until the BBC is more rightwing than Vlad the Impaler. And then it still won't be enough.

It’s a classic Vance rhetorical move that’s almost indecipherable unless you're doused in MAGA. Instead of calling out the Hitler-loving Fuentes, he called out anyone who has been calling out Fuentes. And he called on the GOP to unite around the things they love, like deporting brown children.
JD Vance now leads the GOP. And he wants the party to welcome Hitler lovers.
The VP wants peace with gutter racists who spew vile hatred at his wife. And the press refuses to reckon with what this means.

Families in our community are hurting while Trump uses hunger as a weapon. I won't stop fighting for the assistance our people rely on.

I'm grateful for orgs like the Irondequoit Community Cupboard for supporting those in need. I stopped by to hear the challenges they're facing.

Trump wants health insurance premiums to spike right after he allowed medical debt to adversely affect people’s credit ratings, while rolling out 50 year mortgages.

But he loves you, MAGA. That’s why he’s building that ballroom for you.

Impressive that Altman built a company that relies on fraud, puffery, and deception even more than Tesla seems to!
“.. if anything, [OpenAI’s] endless barrage of statements, interviews, and communications .. is starting to become counterproductive (anyone, whether it’s a company or politician, that insists on saturating media cycles .. usually isn’t doing so from a place of confidence).”

In the current situation, as tiring as it gets, we must continue to organize consistently and not stop ever.
Mamdani got 1,036,051 votes and had 108,000 volunteers. One out of ten people who voted for him also built the campaign. Amazing.

All of us olds live in constant PTSD about Obama's campaign purposefully unwinding its volunteer army in 2009.

Good news: Mamdani's team says it's doing the opposite.

Have you read the 15th amendment to the US Constitution ?
Ratified in 1870, the Fifteenth Amendment is short, a mere fifty words including the section headings, but written with a large intended effect. https://bit.ly/4npLAaj

The USDA sent an email to grocery stores telling them they are prohibited from offering special discounts to customers affected by the SNAP funding lapse.
I'm aware of at least 2 stores that had offered struggling customers a discount, then withdrew it after receiving this email
