Because of *reasons* they soft reject (that’s how I’m thinking of it) the mate bond. Vamps are after Serena to study her being a hybrid.! Koen is of course very protective. He moves her to his cabin to draw the vamps to them but oh boy now we have Weres after her too.

Here’s the thing, both of them kind of suck. But they are also filled to the brim with trauma. Koen because of what happened to his pack, Serena for being raised as a human orphan and then the companion to Misery not knowing her hybrid nature at all.

This is, in my opinion, Ali’s funniest book. The banter was bantering. Koen is a sarcastic asshole, Serena lies so often she barely knows what the truth is at all.
