I’m a retired museum curator. I fight Parkinson’s every damn day. I revel in the absurd. I am a voracious reader, a passable artist and a horrible poet. I am a student, teacher and keeper of history.
It’s Sesame Street Day! To many of my generation Sesame Street was their first teacher. Its vital message was that all people deserved to be treated with respect, honesty and kindness. Differences didn’t matter on Sesame Stree it’s no surprise that the far right hates it.

It’s been ten years since I had Deep Brain Stimulation surgery. The photo, left, was after the first surgery and, right, at the end of the fourth surgery when I was able to walk without a wheelchair. The surgery allowed me to work five more years and is still keeping the worst symptoms in check.

Whatever my issues are with religion, my brother is a good man and a great priest. His obvious calling always humbled me. Happy Anniversary Father Dean!

Tomorrow will be the tenth anniversary of my Deep Brain Stimulation surgery. I was very lucky to have the support of my friends and family. Plus I had my head shaved in prep for the surgery at the Coast Guard Academy!

This Easter I am posting this photo to remind everyone about threats of a Christian nationalist theocracy. It is a man-made warped view of everything wonderful about Christianity . They believe a compassionate Christ was weak and miss the point of how must strength you must have to stand up to hate.

I participated in a smallish protest in Columbia, MD. It was about 100 people.
