Romani artist/writer living in rural New Zealand. Was once called a "CNN Communist" and "full of shit". Prone to sarcasm.
I'd be interested if Americans are subjected to Black Friday month like we were here in New Zealand.

The suspect was granted asylum in April, this year. Trump was in fact the president (and likely golfing).

The suspect is only here because Trump made a deal with a terrorist organization to give them a country to terrorize and release 5,000 of their friends from prison.
Crazy Nancy Mace: “This would never have happened with President Trump in The Oval Office.”

She’s right in a way, he was golfing instead. 🥴

Donald Trump created this situation, entirely.

1. He pulled ALL our military forces out of Afghanistan and didn't even intend to hold Bagram (see his agreement with Taliban).

2. He unnecessarily deployed uniformed troops near White House when DC Civil Authority is capable of law enforcement.

Three businesses have shut down in Waipukurau in the last week but "green shoots". One couldn't afford their rent anymore and this is also affecting a community op shop which will have to close if they can't find cheaper premises.

Charlie Tangaroa and the God of War is now a year old and, sadly, despite brilliant reviews, has kinda been ignored. It's a bit longer than book 1 but is very exciting

so anyone who has like an ounce of experience with the outdoors knows bamboo actually burns really poorly. Also anyone who has been following this and isn't a racist freak knows this was almost certainly an issue of the cladding like Grenfell was but I know that doesn't get the weird sinophobia hit!

Trump is responsible for these two guard members being shot.

Civil authority (DC police) are well capable of handling crime in DC and always have been. The city did not want troops deployed there and didn't ask for troops to be deployed there. It's Thanksgiving, they should be home with family.

I spent years in Afghanistan, I think (re)vetting refugees is a good idea.

That said, our nation promised these people a free and democratic Afghanistan and then Trump reneged on those promises and set a bunch of terrorists free who then hunted the families of these refugees. That's the crime.

It's so cool how this government is doing so many Trumpian things- voter suppression, climate denial, interfering in education against expert advice, destroying healthcare, rolling back environmental protections- but we're still largely treating them as normal and being like 'But how's the economy?'

Boards Chair here - before our BOT passed a motion affirming our commitment to Te Tiriti, I received emails from parents and teachers urging the board on.

The union never said a word.

Amazing that reaffirming a commitment to Te Tiriti is viewed as "anti-govt" (his words)

National Guard members do not want to be used as political props. They want to be home with their families. The only person who wants them here is Trump.

Police killed three people in DC last week and now this. When will this administration stop escalating and putting people in harm's way?

* New Zealand takes pies (namely, handheld meat pies) so seriously that there are National Pie Awards that get major media coverage. The New Zealand National Library has a whole dedicated category for “Pies — Competitions.”

Hang on, is this about NZ or the USA?
This is how our government has been corrupted:

1) Donors give huge sums to elect politicians to office
2) Elected officials rewrite rules in the donors' favor
3) Donors make huge profit
4) Repeat

We must get big money out of politics.

It is the root of our dysfunction.

Hegseth is cutting the military's ties with Scouting America. It cheapens a century-long partnership. Instead of supporting their push for broader inclusion, he frames it as an “attack”, turning progress into a political grievance. His stance shrinks both institutions rather than strengthening them.
