Truly an amazing location for a coffee shop, I’m going back for sure
November 11, 2025 at 3:18 AM
Yesterday it was in the 60s, and I read a book at a coffee shop on the river. Today it was on the 20s, and Bella got to frolic in the snow. Find joy in the weather of the day, I guess?

I usually avoid taking home swag from conferences but… I got to play the claw machine game to win this @motherduck.com duck at Coalesce and I knew exactly who would appreciate me bringing home stuffies.

Nothing quite like a fall hike in the blue ridge mountains at peak leaf color

We’ve arrived back home safe and sound.

The post-conference come-down has begun as my natural introvert self once again returns to the fore and my conference-exclusive extrovert self pulls an Irish goodbye… and as always my introvert self is left mortified and terrified of the extrovert self. Halp

I completely forgot to take pictures and live post my way through Coalesce yesterday, but this morning I caught @data.potato.engineer and @bennstancil.bsky.social’s talks, which were both purely excellent
October 16, 2025 at 8:11 PM
So psyched to see this talk come to life (I was working with them earlier this year!)

@matsonj.com is braving the perils of a live demo of the “duck stack” on stage - beyond impressive! 5 mins to get a duck lake up and running locally via a dbt project

Can’t miss the ducks!
October 14, 2025 at 8:50 PM
So happy Coalesce is hosting another women in data panel (though I kinda liked the lunch format of last year better)
October 14, 2025 at 8:35 PM
You know I’m not going to miss a session about governance!
October 14, 2025 at 7:18 PM
And naturally I’m knitting my way through the sessions
October 14, 2025 at 6:07 PM
First Coalesce session is…. On Fusion, of course!
@simon.podhajsky.net how does it feel to be meme famous?
October 14, 2025 at 6:06 PM
And right before Faith was her partner in smarter testing crime, Jerrie, presenting my favorite dbt Fusion powered feature, state aware orchestration!
October 14, 2025 at 5:39 PM
My girl @faithebear.bsky.social closing out the Coalesce opening keynote with a wowzer “one more thing”… dbt Agents!

We are 2 weeks out from dbt Labs's annual party + nerd out for analytics engineers... Coalesce 2025! I'll be speaking at Coalesce about one of my favorite topics: data mesh + dbt Mesh.

If you'll be in Vegas, join me on Oct 15 (Wed), at 11:30am PT for my session: So you want to build a data mesh

This was the very close runner up (I took forever to decide and I’m still wondering if I should’ve just gotten both and decided later):

I went back to the yarn shop next to the sheep farm to find a skein of yarn to pair with one I bought at Cannon Beach (and the colorway is called Cannon Beach!) a few years back. The lovely ladies there were very excited to help me find a match. Here is what I landed on: (new yarn on the left)

Knitting update: this shawl is finished and on its (very belated) way to my friend who got married… a whole year+ ago 😅

Ends woven in Saturday, blocked Sunday night, unpinned Monday night, and in the mail by Tuesday.

So very happy it is finally done 😁

Finally casting off this shawl over a year late! Picot bind offs take forever, but they are pretty and easier to block.

I swear this hammock swing is the most ergonomic way to knit, and it’s so peaceful with a gentle summer rain coming down.
