I always appreciate hearing from Tennesseans. Throughout my career, I have supported efforts to improve the basic functions of the federal government by right-sizing the number of federal agencies, programs, and personnel to ensure efficiency and accountability. I believe that a small government approach emphasizes the importance of focusing resources on core constitutional responsibilities, protects individual liberties, reduces waste, and ultimately empowers states and local communities to address issues directly affecting their citizens. In December 2024, I introduced a package of bills to reform the federal government which have been referred to as the DOGE Acts. Specifically, these bills would implement a one-year freeze on new federal civilian employee hires and salaries, establish a plan to relocate non-national security related agencies to states across the country, establish a performance-based pay structure to incentivize efficiency among federal employees, and reduce discretionary spending by reasonable amounts. Pete Buttigieg o @PeteButtigieg Despicable. As families grieve, Trump should be leading, not lying. We put safety first, drove down close calls, grew Air Traffic Control, and had zero commercial airline crash fatalities out of millions of flights on our watch. President Trump now oversees the military and the FAA. One of his first acts was to fire and suspend some of the key personnel who helped keep our skies safe. Time for the President to show actual leadership and explain what he will do to prevent this from happening again.
