Hack photographer of planes, whales, wildlife, and miscellaneous stuff in the great Pacific Northwest.
A beautiful late-winter day out on the water by Whidbey Island, and found some orcas frolicking in the sunshine.

How the hell did we ever get this broken…
The FBI’s core values, including integrity, compassion, fairness, and allegiance to the Constitution - and oh, yeah, diversity, are being painted over at the FBI Academy. Source: NYT.

As doctors and nurses, it is our moral duty to care for every person who walks through the door & needs medical help. Allowing ICE to raid hospitals & clinics is immoral and will lead to needless suffering & death. Reading this made me cry...what nation have we become? #medsky
Allowing ICE in hospitals is a public health catastrophe in the making
Allowing ICE to conduct raids in hospitals and medical clinics is not only cruel; it is a public health catastrophe in the making, writes Eric Reinhart.

Serious question for any legal or hospital admins:
I am an ICU RN; what plans are in place for when/if ICE shows up at our doors? What if they demand access to patient care areas? Are RNs or other staff protected if we refuse to comply or otherwise act to protect our patients?

I spent the last day of 2024 out on the waters of Admiralty Inlet and the Straight…we finally had a break from the rain, and it might be the last dry day we get for the next few months.

Mt Baker looked fabulous all covered in snow; and we found a few orcas up by Victoria.

Happy New Year!

Does anyone who works in healthcare have any idea what we do when the brain-wormed anti-science antivax RFK,jr takes over HHS?
Are we going to have to do CE modules on iron lungs and ivermectin?

I’m still in shock.
It’s like I can’t breathe or think or process it.
I don’t know how to even look at the world today.
There are no coping mechanisms today.

Epic day yesterday up near Race Rocks, off the southern tip of Vancouver Island. Sea lion was on the menu, and the orcas put on quite a show, hunting and celebrating their successful hunt.

A beautiful autumn morning in Roche Harbor, San Juan Island was followed by a lovely boat ride to Soucia Island.
On the way back to Roche Harbor, we found some orcas out hunting together.

Some photos of the marine life of the Salish Sea, Washington State; taken from a boat traveling between Port Townsend and San Juan Island:
Minke Whales; stellar sea lions; and a large group of sea birds congregating to feast on small fish.
