Day 1 of the Lego advent calendar and they finally made Babu Brik.
I just finished laying out my yearly calendar for friends and family, this one with photos from our bike trip from Bruges to Amsterdam, and wasn't able to include this one, so I'll share it here. These are worn floor tombs in the Oude Kerk, Amsterdam, lit with rainbows from an art installation.

A lot of things suck about getting older, but not seeing people you knew as talented teens turn into absolute powerhouses. Great to see Katie McNally and Elizabeth Anderson Howe in concert with Keith Murphy to celebrate the Scottish music of Cape Breton, with a bunch of my friends dancing.

I was reading about Lukas Kendall's work on the 1993 4-CD Star Wars soundtrack and did a double-take at Ford Thaxton's name. I knew Ford only as a supreme prat who trolled JMS on rec.arts.sf.tv.babylon5 and led to the creation of the moderated group. Apparently he sequenced the Star Wars Anthology!

I was lucky enough to be invited to the wedding celebration for two splendid young people today, and got to witness and participate in their family’s broom ceremony, in which the newlyweds jump over a 180-year-old broom tied with a ribbon for every family wedding going back to the mid-19th century.
