Saturday morning listening. The Replacements - Tim (Ed Stasium mix) and Grandpaboy (Paul Westerberg).

All Trummors is really, really good for you but Call in the Horses on a good set of headphones is sublime. #Headlands 🎧🎶🌅

Clarksdale is definitely not the Hill Country but you catch my drift. Highly recommend a trip to Clarksdale if you have even a passing interest in the blues which of course you do.

I miss road tripping over to the North Mississippi Hill Country to see heroes like Junior Kimbrough, R.L. Burnside, Jessie Mae Hemphill, and Jack Owens and Bud Spires. Still go over there two to three times a year but it’s not quite the same.

Drove down to New Orleans to see them couple of weeks ago. Outstanding show. Laetitia was really fun to watch.

Vehement disagreement with the significant other this morning over whether it’s The Way We Were or Three Days of the Condor tonight!

Three Days of the Condor with Faye Dunaway.

Holy hell. Circles Around the Sun! Another amazing record I can’t believe I’ve never heard before. Gonna have to pull the trigger and buy the complete recordings and pre-order the upcoming Volume 2. Constant musical discovery is the antidote to fixation on these fascist maniacs.

Great album and a personal fave for sure but it’s been a strong 2025 IMO. I know you don’t want to toot your own horn (and I don’t mean to distract from your point) but that Jessica Risker record is just fabulous. Yup, I know I’m an IH completist but Calendar Year is way up there, Tim. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Spinning Rosali’s 2018 Trouble Anyway LP. I hate to label Rosali Middleman’s music as “singer-songwriter, folk-rock, yada yada” because her records are just uniformly brilliant. First rate songs, dream-like vocals, and top shelf musicianship abound. She’s a superstar to me.

Listening to the just released 50th deluxe reissue of the Dead’s Blues for Allah.

“Let's see with our heart
These things our eyes have seen
And know the truth must still
Lie somewhere in between” — Blues for Allah (Lyrics - Robert Hunter)

#NowPlaying Iain Matthews. If You Saw Thro’ My Eyes (1971). Beautifully sung and played by Fairport alum abetted by a stellar group including the likes of Richard Thompson, Sandy Denny and Keith Tippett. As a Fairport fan, can’t believe I hadn’t heard this before this weekend. ☕️🎧🎸⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Perfect listening on a much needed rainy morning. Fairport Convention. Richard and Linda Thompson.

#NowPlaying Raw, country blues recorded in 1959 at Angola State Penitentiary, Angola, LA. The whole thing is great but I bought it for the Robert Pete Williams’ tracks. Williams was the real deal.

Also, Neil Young/ Crazy Horse and Joe Harvey-Whyte/Bobby Lee. Not pictured: Timo Lassy Trio-Live in Helsinki.

Sunday listening. Treespeak, Gal Costa, The Ancients (Isaiah Collier, William Parker and William Hooker) and Jaimie Branch.

#NowPlaying Keith Jarrett/Expectations (Columbia, 1972). Excellent album from Jarrett’s classic quartet (Dewey Redman, Charlie Haden, Paul Motian) to start the day. ☕️🎹

#NowPlaying I flew out to LA this week to see Herbie at the Hollywood Bowl. Fabulous show. Despite his 85 years, Herbie is no nostalgia act. His band of Terence Blanchard (T), Lionel Loueke (G) James Genus (B) and Jaylen Petinaud (D) is a monster of sound rearranging and expanding on the HH canon.

Saturday morning listening. Trummors and Jesse Welles.
