If you’re feeling particularly ungenerous, I guess you could say sometimes it feels a little too Malicky imitation in its weakest moments, but even then, it’s one of the best shot movies I’ve seen in a long time.

Train Dreams is one of the best movies I’ve seen in years. Beautifully shot and a strong adaptation of its source material. Lots to love but maybe most of all is William H. Macy turning a bit role into an incredible performance that hangs over the rest of the movie

As someone who's been shouting about how great Tales from the Borderlands is for the past decade, happy to see some of that team get their flowers for Dispatch. Finally playing it and, like Tales, it strikes a masterful balance between ridiculous, crude humor and impactful drama. Love it so far.

Rewatched One Battle After Another and yep, that’s a modern classic right there.

Can't stop thinking about this scene. Genuinely one of the best sequences I've seen in movies or TV. Somehow uplifting and heartbreaking all at once.

Finished off PTO by wrapping up Interview with The Vampire. And yeah, I mean, one of the best adaptations of anything ever? Probably one of the best TV shows ever? Smart, beautiful, haunting, and deeply funny when it wants to be. Go watch it if you haven't yet!

I loved Predator: Badlands. That was my kind of movie 100%. Great combo of kick-ass action and comedy. Elle Fanning in particular kills it.

I did manage to get my first helicopter takedown with a lucky RPG shot yesterday though, so that was pretty great.

Mid-tier Pynchon in the end but mid-tier Pynchon is better than the best from most writers and impressive for a guy pushing 90. The jokes are particularly great. Probably the most straightforward novel he’s written since Lot 49.
