Ghostwatch remains the king of these scares imo but Flanagan has put them to good use for sure

The quality drop-off from Insidious to Insidious 2 is unparalleled. This movie is corny as hell.

(It’s also my favorite ending in the game because you get to ignore the final boss taunting you to fight him and basically doom him while also making it clear he isn’t worth your time.)

I saw them play it in front of me at E3 so a vertical slice exists somewhere unless they deleted all the copies. The Dishonored elements were still there but it felt much more like an explicit and faithful version to the original game in concept and aesthetic execution.

Game should have been canceled. The Chinese Room’s version of Bloodlines 2 should have been called something else. It’s a *good* game once separated from that expectation. Just baffled by this whole thing. Will be baffled by it forever.

But I genuinely don’t understand why you’d greenlight a sequel to a beloved cult classic game, shut down the first developer shortly after their initial previews are landing well, and then REBOOT the whole thing with an entirely different premise that alienates the people who were excited about it

Honestly, surprised at how solid of a game The Chinese Room was able to craft within the time they had, but Bloodlines 2 has been fumble after fumble since the announcement in *2019*

I liked that one. It went *places*

It’s wild just how badly those few added cutscenes hurt the integrity of that game’s story.

My assumption is that the initial pitch didn’t reach the editors/or they ignored it so the agency in question reached out to me to try and surface it or something in a roundabout way idk. Clumsy, bad work in any case.

I was getting some of these to my personal email for like two years after our very public layoff lol. They eventually stopped coming in but yeah, Always Be Updating Media Lists is a PR lesson I learned early because of that lol.

It's got issues but I mostly really dig it
November 26, 2025 at 5:19 PM
I like the game a lot, three episodes in, but I do have issues with it. Curious to see if their issues become more pronounced as I get closer to the end.

The problematic fave will become even more problematic

If you’re feeling particularly ungenerous, I guess you could say sometimes it feels a little too Malicky imitation in its weakest moments, but even then, it’s one of the best shot movies I’ve seen in a long time.

Telltale Games positioned their work as games where your choices changed the story in significant ways. I found that rarely to be true (with the exception of Batman Season 2). Instead, the best ones focused on how your choices shaped relationships amongst the core groups of characters.
