Great article. Always learning from these guys.
Two weeks ago, Grindr put on a fashion show of wool from "gay" rams rescued from slaughter. The media and the Internet swooned. But this feel-good story is a window into the dark role of forced reproduction in animal agriculture.

By me & @gnrosenberg.bsky.social.

The Internet Loves These “Gay Sheep.” The Real Story Is Much Darker.
A much-hyped fashion show with wool from “gay rams” obscures the brutal reality of an industry that exploits sheep sexuality at every turn.

A nearly perfect game for #Rams tonight. Only concern I have is that they are peaking too early, but what a night! #WhoseHouse

Medicare for All would save $450B a year.

Every dollar spent on food stamps generates $1.50-$1.80 in economic activity.

Each dollar going to low-wage workers adds $1.20 to the economy overall.

It’s not about what this country can or can’t afford.

It’s about priorities.

A very scary (and comprehensive) takedown of Bari Weiss, “The Free Press” and the awful implications for the once storied CBS News:

Worthwhile report about the new EAT - Lancet report and a needed shift in diets by @kennytorrella.bsky.social
The new EAT-Lancet report is out and I wrote about it -- and also what I saw at Climate Week NYC: An environmental movement still cozying up to Big Meat, and still unafraid to confront scientific consensus on food, agriculture, and livestock.

OK… I think it might finally be time for Disney to sell their theme park division to someone who will operate them with love and care. Disney can license the IP to the new owners. I’m kinda done with this Iger-led bullshit.

The murder of Charlie Kirk is part of a disturbing rise in political violence that threatens to hollow out our public life.

A free society relies on the premise that people can speak out without fear or humiliation.

No more political violence.

Car ads with a single vehicle as the only thing on the road — usually set on the coast or mountains — is a longtime part of the automakers’ scam. Rarely do you see any marketing with other vehicles in the road. I believe the last one I saw was a Hyundai ad that focused on “surviving the commute.”
Funny how the “open road” they promise always ends at the same place.

A traffic jam and a car payment.

This is cool. Chicago company is making fats in lab by pulling CO2 out of air and combining it with water, and it's churning those into butter with no animals or plants involved. Bill Gates thinks lab-made oils and fats and their low carbon footprint are future of food. 🧪
