Yeah, Remix conf was definitely planned to overlap React conf, but not for the reasons you think.

Matt wanted to retain the React Cup without competing, cause he knew he’d lose this year, so he influenced the schedule.

Avoid "functional absolutism" by spending time and energy on things that don't matter. Love this sentiment by @aaadaaam.com.

Bonus: A wonderful little `` web component in the header.

Is this a React subskeet?

I think I need synthesize everything I learned from you into my own post, perhaps "Notes to Self on Bluesky" as a follow up to my wondering about the shortcomings of mastodon.

The way you described it, all my reservations about social seemed solved ha :)

But whatever data you create is forever stuck in the world of your handle, e.g. mastodon[dot]social

The way you explained how repos + identity work in bluesky was very instructive — and persuasive! I still need to round out my understanding of it all though...

Read this one and Open Social last night. Excellent posts, ty so much for writing them! Really enhanced my understanding.

One thing I've always struggled with in regards to Mastodon is how, yeah you might be able to take your followers with you...

my daughter really captured my essence in this portrait of me “at work”
a bald stick figure in a chair with his arms out in front like he’s typing on a keyboard, and he’s got the biggest angry frown imaginable and eyebrows that express frustrated bemusement

“It’s 2013, surely having a good rich text editor on the web is a solved problem...”

My boss said that in 2013. I still think about this quote lol

📝 The Qix security incident on NPM reminded me that `npm install` isn't just dangerous for your computer when you run that command.

It can be dangerous for any computer downstream of yours — including your users’.

"lack of confidence and conviction"
"as a parent, spare time eludes me"
"I should probably have chosen a different career"

ha, those are all things that I feel/think too! but yeah, if you write that post, I'll read it (and probably nod along to how you feel)

Pulling back isn't a "waste". It's an act of acknowledgement that what really matters has been revealed and further clarified.

And isn't that the payoff? Before you couldn't see, but now you do.

that is a _great_ question.

I think I've always believed what you outlined — the journey is the "result", not the destination — but I'm curious why you don't think that anymore?

I think it's something inherent to creative work…going from vision to reality exposes things you didn't see.
