East London is the real Upside-Down apparently

Must say yr objectification of the more mature fellow (see also: Connery in Outland) is a breath of fresh air in these youth-centric climes

There is, a kindof an American influenced lack of all/any levity or fun. There’s room for both setting the world to rights and also taking the piss, and never the twain need meet.

The thing that winds me up is more “I saw Rush in 1984 at Birmingham NEC. Quite a good gig although I was annoyed they didn’t do more off Hemispheres, my personal favourite. A pint was £1.50 and…” etc

Minimum wage is apparently £12.80 for ages 18-20 and a tenner for under 10. I guess if you look at it as most Forum gigs and bigger being like seeing Lenny Kravitz on a coach trip to Edinburgh -

I guess beyond the ‘I saw Al Bowlly in 1936 and it was 3’9’’’ stuff there’s the broader question of access. Teenagers used to be able to go to a few big gigs a week; and we did! Impossible now it’s £40 even to see Destruction at the Underworld

We were treated really nicely there in 2014 tbf although this year's Friday night headliner was Sting

Hell hath no fury like the comedy section of the Latitude Festival programme, a screechingly middle-class smorgasbord of gently riled smirks incredulous raised eyebrows and theatrically furrowed brows

You have unlocked the YouTube comment Vortex! "I am 54 years old still listening to this song aftre 43 years" etc
