Hard to imagine a Democrat administration doing this for a liberal pundit, in part because I don't think any liberal pundit would be this close to an administration, I think Dem politicians consider most pundits "controversial" and I think the Democrat base would call it cringe.

I’m not sure if a lot of people instinctively feel this is a good trade off though, and that’s what Trump is gambling on. I think to a lot of people, “100 guilty going free” comes off as like that deranged line Vance said about enduring a million expensive toasters to save one American job.
