I was in Portland earlier this month... it was not 'war ravaged'; rather, it was noticeably cleaner and more pleasant than i had seen in three visits in recent years www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025...

In 2017, @dashbusva.bsky.social initiated free fare for ACPS HS students and recently estimated a daily average of >2,200 student boardings. How can DASH serve more students? Thanks @alyia4alx.com, CM Chapman, SB Chair Rief & @kellycbooz.bsky.social for working towards answers

My mom just told me she cancelled her subscription. She reads every one of my stories. I understand why she did it, but I asked her to reconsider. Here's what I said: Post reporters had no part in this decision. But when you cancel, you are hurting us, not our owner.

Something to consider in City of Alexandria's Z4H Phase 2: “No single legislative action did more to contribute to housing creation than the elimination of parking minimums.”

I was in NC and did not hear the crash on Sunday. A friend said it was quite a noise! They thought it was a lightning strike. Fortunately, their neighbor checked and called 911.

This replaces an earlier post about a crash on Seminary Road on Sunday, 09/22.The crash occurred on the north side of Seminary Road, between Trotter Road and St Stephens Road. Hopefully, APD and/or @corbie.bsky.social will provide updates, e.g. what happened to vehicle occupant(s).
September 23, 2024 at 7:17 PM
The nearby pedestrian refuge island and bike lane infrastructure appeared undamaged, and hence did not likely play any role in the crash on Sunday. Seminary Rd was closed while Dominion crews replaced a utility pole that had been sheared in half. Perhaps @corbie.bsky.social can learn more. 3/3

Crews were implementing protected bike lanes (PBLs) on Seminary Road this week, one of 4 planned PBL projects in Alexandria for Summer 2024. PBLs improve safety for ALL road users, based on a study of thirteen years of data from twelve large U.S. cities. bit.ly/Separated_Bi...

Great to see innovation at DASHBus, e.g. new route number backgrounds for easier recognition, and larger interior route information displays.

After a year in which the city added only 1/3 of a mile of new bike lanes, staff is poised for much more progress in the FY2024. See page 6 for the FY2024 Complete Streets Work Plan: bit.ly/2024Workplan

In what other City do residents post questions to their Mayor on a Listserve and receive a thoughtful, respectful, totally wonky (in a good way) responses! We are so appreciative for all that you do @justindotnet.bsky.social.
