RIP - apparently, she approved of this!

The vehicle must still be taxed, but at no cost!

This was the seatpost on my turbo trainer bike after a couple of seasons of sweat:

Interesting. If you look at the HTML, it's definitely embedded as a video... It looks like BlueSky automatically converts GIFs to video:

Then they're going to have conniptions if the race goes anywhere near Peniston... or Cockermouth...

Geez - the orange one finally says something I agree with. If JB had acted more decisively and supported Ukraine fully rather than his half hearted drip feeding this whole mess would probably have been over by now...

It is good enough for an accessible and practical roadside check - read a registration plate at 20m. I'd agree re-testing is a good idea. Maybe not every year, but every 3 to 5... Maybe coinciding with licence renewal - 10 years for under 70, 3 years over and 5 for commercial drivers...?

No they can't - just like breath and drugs tests. But allowing optometrists to pull people over and test them isn't a solution!

Road Traffic Act 1988 s.96 refers.

This isn't necessary. A police officer has the power to pull motorists of any age over & administer a roadside eyesight test. The driver can then be fined (if they are supposed to be wearing glasses & are not, for example) & license revoked on medical grounds by the DVLA.

Safer drivers, safer roads
New rules announced that allow the police to take immediate action against motorists who fail roadside eye tests.

Was he _actually_ offloading, or was it free parking?

If you actually read the article, the claim was that the motorists went through the light WHILST the officer was dealing with the RLJing cyclist. If the cyclist had obeyed the lights, the officer would have been free to deal with a motorist. Methinks you missed the point here...

And to counter your anecdote, I'll anecdotally state that I have reported MANY motorists to the police (currently on just over 100 so far this year) and they HAVE acted. My thanks to both the Met and Surrey...

The guy said they went though the lights WHILE the officer was dealing with him. That's not being lazy. The officer was preoccupied with handling the cyclist. Whataboutery and blaming the police at every opportunity is becoming tiresome...

But you could have googled that yourself. 🤷‍♂️
