As an emergency excepted, I wonder the same thing. I took a Senate Credit Union "shutdown loan" ($5K, 0%, 90 days) for the first time in our 24-year careers and my wife had the option for another.
And for what? So 6 senators with a combined net worth of over $42M, plus Kaine & Fetterman, can fold?

They have the same FEHB plan Federal workers receive that is not fully paid for as there are pre-tax deductions. The only difference is that they have to obtain it (subsidized, unlike those they betrayed) on the DC ACA exchange. Here's the OPM guidance on that:

No, it's not. My mortgage is ~$1,750/mo with insurance and taxes while it would go for $2,655 as a rental. As is.
If we put another $40K into upgrading appliances, minor fixups, replace the last 5 windows, new front door, etc. it would be $3,400.
Newer homes in the community are over $4K.
