This is such a key point that remains latent in any discussion about ‘sincere beliefs’ that, with any elucidation (and you will almost never get any attempt at even a bare-bones sketch of the belief) ultimately bottom out in post hoc justifications for a socially-entrenched disgust reflex
Why does what other people claim to “sincerely believe” matter to my rights and liberties??

If Behn pulls off the massive upset tomorrow in TN-07, I'm going to be thinking a lot about this figure and who decided to stay home. The shutdown was awful for the GOP.
This Republican number is wild: 23% approve. It's their Congress!

we don’t need to have this conversation. a student getting a failing grade on an assignment because she failed to follow the instructions is not national news. college instructors shouldn’t be second-guessing this student’s actual instructor, who assigned and graded the work.

view from nowhere indeed pretty fucked up when it's like "Is it wrong to murder people in cold blood? We asked experts."

"They said we should put the words 'murder in cold blood'' in our headline, but the press secretary disagreed so the editor softened the language"

'Donald Trump can't' simply will not be part of the administration's vocabulary if he wins a second term.

It's the same way 350,000 Black women individually losing their jobs doesn't constitute any pattern we should examine.
every trans person i see post about the OU suspension knows that the suspended target is trans & a grad student, & has an innate awareness that this is about purging trans employees. every cis person i see thinks the target is a rando professor & that this is about giving conservatives good grades

simply too profitable to be a right-wing propagandist these days.
I’m a moron for not knowing it was this lucrative. Explains everything about why lefties bash Bluesky on Twitter. He’s paying them to do it. I’ll shut up about trying to understand these folks. They work for Elon. Got it.

Here’s the TPUSA version of events at OU.

Not surprisingly, they lie about what happened — she wasn’t flunked for quoting the Bible; she never even quoted it — and accuse the instructor, whom they name, as being “mentally ill”

Some of the things I learned *way* too much about:
--Safety regulations in putting up exit signs in 1920s England
--Wallpaper varieties in interwar ballrooms
--Everything you can imagine about jazz clubs/cabarets in the 1920s
--Different parquet floor designs
--Party favors at jazz dances

I hope Woke 2 means we get to dispense with the fear of exercising power and the glorification of being an underdog in itself. Because no, I don't want to be the underdog forever. I don't want to constantly fight the establishment. I want cultural hegemony. I want the reactionaries trembling.

Senator Kelly is correct.

Plus a Public Service Announcement:

KEY section of Department of Defense's Law of War Manual is 18.3.2.1.

The VERY rule on the "requirement" to refuse illegal orders gives as its paradigmatic example of what is "clearly illegal:
"orders to fire upon the shipwrecked."

WHCA loves the Donald Trump show, and their current crop of correspondents are doing everything in their power to keep it on the air.
From CNN: "Zelensky meeting shows how the White House has remade the press corps to Trump’s liking." www.cnn.com/2025/08/18/m...
