I used to do a lot of work with new teachers and I quite regularly meet colleagues who remember my input from when they were new. It's a bit sad tbh that the Tories brought it all under central control via the ECF. I'm not convinced it's a positive that the framework is so decontextualised. #edusky

It's good that they've scrapped this but they need to revisit the whole ECF (and CCF). I speak to a lot of new teachers and both are still problematic. #edusky

The most important thing in writing is to finish. A finished thing can be fixed. A finished thing can be published. A finished thing can be made into a movie.

An unfinished thing is just a dream. And dreams fade if you don't hold on tight enough.

So finish the thing.

Time to reclaim the word, PLAY is not a dirty word, it's a child's right, enshrined in the UNCRC and in our statutory EYFS.
"Play provides the natural, imaginative and motivating contexts for children to learn about themselves, one another and the world around them. A single moment of sustained play can afford children many developmental experiences at once, covering multiple areas of learning." Kathy Sylva

9: Sector wisdom... a lot of what I call the old guard have left or are leaving the sector.
Why? Wha can we learn from them before they leave? What wisdom can they share to enrich the sector now?

8: Leadership development is huge. Many courses do not adequately prepare you. The average age of leaders is getting lower & lower, with some leaders respectfully hugely out of their depth. A really precise programme of CPD that goes beyond a narrow lens of research is needed.

This is a very sensible decision. The requirement was limiting schools’ willingness to provide training placements and was causing so much anxiety. It was also nonsense…
