Yeah, I'm kinda amazed the IOC lets FIFA get away with it and doesn't just boot men's soccer out. But I guess FIFA is one of the few sports feds that makes it's own money, and could probably do more damage to the IOC than conversely.

Not if you take out the 2-3 rows of temp seats
jockcartier.bsky.social
I suppose it's something easy enough to verify... yes, u23 with up to three "overage" players

I'm not sure too many huge stars have taken advantage, I think Neymar played in Rio 2016
jockcartier.bsky.social
I think the Olympics is u23 plus two or three ringers of your choosing
jockcartier.bsky.social
Interesting.

But if they start requiring tv talent stay sober while on location, that will be the end of on location broadcasts 😂
jockcartier.bsky.social
They're way beyond that now... we need carbon dating or something. Crack open a femur and count the rings
jockcartier.bsky.social
Now, if they sent their U23's, that would be worth mentioning lol
jockcartier.bsky.social
When we argued about the benches a couple months ago you were also vehement the rationale they stated wasn't utter bulls***... but keep telling yourself that
jockcartier.bsky.social
You know @tsnofficial.bsky.social, when you say it's the 2025 FIFA U-20 World Cup, we generally assume that Mexico and Argentina sent their U20 teams... but that's for really hammering that home in the listings
jockcartier.bsky.social
It did strike me as strange they did order it to end... if anything, I would have expected they go the other way and make all teams do it at home, cause, anything for a buck

I guess when they narrow the field next, they can add back the temp seats in Ott/Tor and then some on the other side too
jockcartier.bsky.social
If a team were smart, they could probably game plan for when they were the closer bench and take advantage of that.

Not sure any CFL coaching staff is deep enough thinkers to do that... well, actually, O'Shea probably does. But knowing him, he'd overthink it.
jockcartier.bsky.social
Would think one team having their bench 30 yards closer to scrimmage half the night would be a bigger competitive concern than their proximity to athletic tape

But that would be assuming it was meant to be grounded in reality, and not just a flimsy excuse the masses will swallow unthinkingly
jockcartier.bsky.social
I missed that too. And BC Place always looked/felt like it had gargantuan sidelines even when they were on opposite sides.
jockcartier.bsky.social
Montreal has an entire track around it, lots of room... and you know it has to be centred of the endzones would be totally jacked up

Lets not just parrot some paper thin rationale cause we figure the teams can't just be being that shallow ... they are absolutely that shallow
jockcartier.bsky.social
Toronto and Ottawa have so much room, they actually added multiple rows of temporary seats... again, reiterating what it was really about

Just think about it for a minute. You really think they're not going centre the field and have half the stadium waaay closer to one set of stands than the other?
jockcartier.bsky.social
Hamilton... tons of room on both sides
jockcartier.bsky.social
Old Ivor Wynne may have been too narrow, but all the current stadiums have ample room for benches in both sides
jockcartier.bsky.social
They do so. Just look at the overheads, both sides are basic the same

They just say that cause they needed an excuse. It was always about the ad board revenue, but they wouldn’t admit it

The only surprise is that the league made them change

ACC replay center inception
ACC replay center small box bottom left, referee top right, larger box has replay views but is showing the full screen inside itself half a dozen times

This is the kinda game that ends with the number nine hitter hitting a walk-off homer

Just leaving all those Rider fans jokes hanging out in the ether like that. I think they're trying to torment me.
