This isn't a direct answer to your question, but I use a free program called Disk Inventory X to view what files are taking up space on my hard drive, so that may give you a more granular view than just an undifferentiated grey bar.

He probably never saw anyone design a game, full stop. Spreadsheets are probably the second most common tool used by game designers, behind just plain word processing.
