“Are there partnerships to be had between newsrooms and creators? Yes, there are partnerships to be had. Can the creator class replace the profession? I say no, it cannot, and should not. But there’s an ideal mix between the two that has yet to be found.”
I joined up with News Creator Corps by putting two and two together… Allow me to explain. - News Creator Corps

A @bostonglobe.com farewell to the legendary @bostonteresa.bsky.social, a pioneer of online journalism, retiring after 40 years at the Globe.

Her speech reminded us of how lucky we are to be journalists, and how important the work we do is.

RIP Jane Goodall, who has died at 91.

She was a gentle disrupter who reshaped how we understand our place in nature. Her research with chimpanzees revolutionized science, and her boundless optimism touched the world.

A photo of Jane Goodall, in her later days with a quote from her: "The greatest danger to our future is our apathy.

Each one of us must take responsibility for our own lives, and above all, show respect and love for living things around us, especially each other."

Good news! Environmental engineers are making progress in a new method to clean up PCBs, a dangerous ‘forever chemical’ that lingers in the water, using bacteria attached to biochar made from corn kernels.

Speaking at #ona25, @bencollins.bsky.social notes that The Onion now has almost 56,000 subscribers. "We are the 13th largest newspaper in the United States, which is really stupid--an indictment on all of us."

TFW the guy who wrote the last time he finally replied to your email "I don't usually take this long to respond" and now has taken over 3 weeks to respond to the next email in the thread.

I suppose, since the first reply was almost six weeks delayed, that his reply could technically still be true.

Did you know court records from the 1300s show transgender people living openly and authentically?

Long before modern medicine and gender-affirming care, trans people found ways to be themselves — dressing in ways that reflected their identities and building new communities of support.

President Trump’s attempt to remove Fed governor Lisa Cook could undermine the economy -- and amp up inflation.

The Fed’s role is to keep decisions like interest rates tied to data, not short-term political gain. Video from an article by political economists Ana Carolina Garriga and Cristina Bodea

@theconversation.com is going to be adding DOIs to our articles, and I'm curious how many people will find this interesting or useful (we're doing it mainly to facilitate tracking the impact of research)

So an informal 2-question poll: A) do you know what a DOI is? B) Are you in academia or not?
