Yeah, it seems a lot harder to find an audience through the mobile app stores.

It's good for me to have an idea of the target platform early in development, because I had been designing the content around in-app purchases, but now thinking of redesigning with rewarded ads in mind.

I am working on a little game that I was planning to release on the mobile app stores next year. But seeing the success of your games and others on Poki has me reconsidering.

Wow! 10 million gameplays in 6 months is tremendous. Congrats!

I'd love to hear more about your experience on web platforms, especially how your revenue on web compares to other platforms like the mobile app stores.

Wow these sketches are impressive! Your lines are so clean and confident, whereas I use pencil so I can erase and redo...

These character designs and the cute hack'n'slash ideas remind me a bit of Plucky Squire.

I'd like to know the strategy for generating revenue over the years, and how important has it been to your studio's success?

I'm often surprised to see it at 90% discount. Is there a magic formula that publishers use to determine when and how much to discount based on reviews, ratings, revenue etc?

THIS IS WHY WE NEED ART. We need games. We need films and videos. We need comics and books. These things enrich our lives especially when there is so much out there that can leave us completely drained.

Friends, please keep making and creating. You are fantastic and we need you and your creations.

It has an addictive loop! Just a suggestion, but it could be nice to have a menu button to show the completed toys. Perhaps outlines of the upcoming ones too, to indicate progress.

By the way I'm curious why you switched from Poki to Playgama?

This is so cool! The cards look great.

What machine are you using?

Great idea thanks! Now I remember, Play By Play is the conference where you shared your font talk. I'll definitely check it out. :-)

Oh no! I'll definitely go to the conference in Auckland, but it does change our plans for the road trip to Wellington. (Thanks for telling me!)

Did they say why NZGDC is switching cities? Wellington has such a nice cultural and creative vibe that I never really felt in Auckland.

Cool! I'm also the type of person who takes pages and pages of notes at conferences. :-)

I'm hoping to be there next year, as the final destination of a long family road trip from Whangarei to Wellington.

Wow that is so inspiring! What fantastic role models.

To me, the title Postgrowth Planet sparks my imagination and establishes a nice conceptual framework.

I've read that the ubiquity of capitalism is self-reinforcing, preventing us from imagining any alternative economic systems.

Your writing can help us imagine what a postgrowth planet looks like.

It's Rosh Hashana.

bsky.app/profile/thes...
The High Holidays are coming up! You know what that means? Apples and honey, beautiful Pomegranate iconography, and wildly antisemitic conspiracy theories all over the internet about how our "dark rituals" are going to be used on Rosh Hashana to ring in the Rapture!

Similar sentiment.

Remarkable! 😉

Honestly I do love your line art and would love to see it in your games.

There's nothing cheesy about empathy and kindness! Those are core values that make the world a better place and make ourselves better people. 🙂

Great talk! I enjoyed your focus on how a wise choice of typeface will help you reach your target audience more effectively.

I always liked how the A in the Firewatch logo completes the stroke of the badge. It's so cool how the Chinese version maintains the same design with a different character!

I would love to hear how you managed risk through each phase of development.

For many (most?) of us, risky prototypes don't progress to vertical, and risky verticals might not be green lit.

What do you think? Should devs have a natural reflex to mitigate risk, or does it stifle creativity?

Great idea! I like the term "Kleining" more, because this pattern also fits with his bs Abundance Agenda.

So-called moderates like Klein end up achieving one big thing: sanitizing and legitimizing the far right.

Back in the bird app days, I really enjoyed your political commentary. More please! 🙂

Yes and how many gun deaths will it take til he knows that too many people have died?

I usually think of the process as:

1. Pencil rough lines
2. Ink clean lines
3. Color

But your Kaiju drawing gave me a different way to think about the process:

1. Shapes and composition
2. Tones
3. Color

Do you tend to think about your process in one way or the other?

That relentless abusive inner dialogue is familiar to me too. Therapy helped me to understand its origin and how to fight back.

Every time depression or impostor syndrome tries to dominate you with a false narrative, fight back with simple and powerful messages to yourself.

You are enough.
