Probably about to be denaturalized Mexicana, community organizer, Las Cruces city councilor, progressive, unapologetic. ✌🏽💛
Interesting take from Rep Block, especially given Alamogordo city staff are currently seeking support from LC city staff on how to navigate their own housing crisis & build capacity to support their newly unhoused residents.
While some of the more controversial bills sponsored by Republicans have started to get hearings, the measures are unlikely to gain traction. All three of the bills listed have been tabled on party-line votes in House Consumer and Public Affairs, which has long been called the “kill committee.”
Republicans' bills get hearings — but little love — from Democrats
Some GOP lawmakers contend their bills reflect their constituents' demands but don't always get a fair shake at the Capitol.

Pro-lifers want to interfere in our decisions to have children as long as we don’t dare ask them to help feed those children…
Rep. Rich McCormick defends the potential impacts of the White House's federal aid freeze on school lunch programs by suggesting that some children should be working instead of receiving free lunch.
Republican congressman suggests some children receiving free school lunches should work at McDonald’s instead
Rep. Rich McCormick said that the freeze on federal funding would allow the government to do a top-down review of programs including free school lunches.

Hating immigrants is the easier story they spin because it keeps their base riled up. The real story is that they just want to make their rich friends richer, it just happens to be on the backs of black and brown people. Their base? Yea they’re still living paycheck to paycheck.

Since Monday, Trump has:

-Halted civil rights investigations
-Suspended public health advisories
-Frozen infrastructure spending on roads and bridges
-Rescinded an executive order prohibiting discrimination by federal contractors

How does this help working people?

Silence is loud.
Two key local law enforcement agencies — the Doña Ana County Sheriff’s Office and NMSU Police Department — remain silent after multiple queries from the Las Cruces Bulletin.

Border hawk recently drove through LC, through my district, highlighting mostly poverty and making outlandish claims about the unhoused community. But what else is to be expected by a “news source” created by a white nationalist?!
