WTF never heard about this before today. Dave Grohl and the Foo Fighters can get fucked.
I don't think I've ever talked on Bluesky about why I hate the Foo Fighters and Dave Grohl.

Don't read any further unless you're prepared for uncomfortable truths about the "Nicest Guy in Rock", and his very substantial body count & subsequent cover-up.

RUNNING MAN was a letdown. Glenn Powell and Emilia Jones do their best. But they can't save what amounts to Netflix fodder from Edgar Wright. The visuals and fun set pieces are no match for the uneven tone, generic villains and horrendous ending.

"All of this falls apart if humans don't adopt the tech. This is why you've seen Meta cram its lame chatbots into WhatsApp and Instagram. This is why Notepad and Paint now have useless Copilot buttons on Windows. This is why Google Gemini wants to "help you" read and reply to your emails."
Analysis: OpenAI is a loss-making machine, how can it survive?
Don't call it a bubble! Loss-making monster OpenAI is on the hook for $1.4 trillion (with a T) in compute commitments. How can this go on?

I miss the days of treasure hunting for books and movies. Video stores were everywhere! Was lucky to be around for the end of the VHS era. Spending afternoons browsing the rental places I'd joined was bliss.
The death of browsing is part of the reason art is the way it is now. Our opinions are largely fed to us by algorithms. Spending a spare 15 minutes wandering around a bookstore or comic shop or video rental place was how you found stuff you wouldn't ordinarily pick up and thereby expanded your taste
Bookselling is like the most "people go to the store and buy what looks cool to them without a particular agenda" type business left, and your purchases have a huge influence on what is ordered, what is displayed, and what is recommended.

And this one with an Edmontosaurus is from 2013.

It was commissioned by the science faculty of the University of Alberta as their Christmas card that year. In the event, they didn't reproduce the image in full but cropped it heavily, losing much of the composition and its various elements.

This is so dangerous and just makes me sad — Covid absolutely sucks and the vaccines work really well. The officials claiming deaths resulted from the vax are hiding all the data and info about the cases, and there’s no way to know if what they’re saying is true
NEW: The F.D.A. announced in an internal memo that 10 children died "because of" the Covid shot. Other experts want to see proof.

“This is a profound revelation,” Dr. Prasad's memo said. “For the first time, the U.S. F.D.A. will acknowledge that Covid-19 vaccines have killed American children.”

3 reasons to never invest in Bitcoin and AI slop data centers:

1. They consume enormous amounts of energy and capital

2. They on equipment that becomes e-waste every 2-3 years

3. They’re endorsed by the most corrupt US president in history

After putting it off for too long, I finally read Tender Is the Flesh by Agustina Bazterrica. It's disturbing and gruesome, pure nightmare fuel.

The ending is shocking and I'll need a few days in a padded cell to get over it.

Predator Badlands is crazy fun. Non-stop action, inventive creature design, hostile planet setting, gruesome at times yet wholesome… Worth seeing just for Elle Fanning as the twin robots, she’s so good in this.

An account is spamming horrific, dehumanizing videos of immigration enforcement because the Facebook algorithm is rewarding them for it.

Here's one of the main reasons why I'm 100% sure AI is in a bubble, regardless of any potential "success" it has in the next 6-12 months.

Right now the majority of AI "success" at scale has been found in AI coding tools for software engineers.
