Giants hiring another coach, the highly respected Jesse Chavez, bullpen coach. Good hire. Knows his stuff. Knows everyone in the game. Played for just about every team. Should fit in well.

Good for Marco Luciano, who'll get a new chance with Pittsburgh, which claimed him off waivers from Giants. The Joey Bart path could serve Luciano well. Was out of options, and Giants had too many outfielders on the 40-man roster. Pirates love Giants' former No 1 prospects.

Giants announce one-year deal for lefty reliever Sam Hentges. Missed last season with shoulder surgery and knee surgery and expected to be good for training camp. Posted 2.93 ERA in 2022-24 with 155 K’s in 138 innings with Cleveland. He’s 29 and 6-8.

Giants’ spring training schedule is fan friendly: 13 road exhibitions and 16 at home including 10 on weekends. Though, yes, it’s usually cheaper away from Scottsdale. March 3 vs. Team USA. Home game for Webb? Giants-A’s used to be big deal in AZ, hardly a thing anymore.
