I think the example of chat bots and offshore call centers applies to #AI as well. People are equating speed and reduced headcount with cost savings but have not factored in the frustration when 'sticking to a script' doesn't apply to the situation and so the interaction is less than satisfactory.

Reading fascinating history of ancient #Egypt I am struck by how many of the themes apply to our modern times.

History is a great teacher, if we would only learn from it.

Watching to see how this one plays out.

If transparency would cause 'irreparable harm' to your business, just what is it you are trying to hide?

#SB261 #Climate
NEW: The U.S. Chamber of Commerce and Eugene Scalia (Gibson Dunn) have gone to SCOTUS asking the justices to stop California's corporate disclosure climate bills (SB261 and SB253) from going into effect. The first of the two bills takes effect on Jan 1. The application is Docket No. 25A561.

Ambitions are going. But actions actually create results.

Admitting that accurate disclosures will cause "irreparable harm" to your business is a tactic admission that your stakeholders will not appreciate what you are doing.

November 11 was originally 'Armistice Day,' commemorating the end to 'The Great War' or 'The War to End All Wars.' Today that conflict is known as World War 1, because sadly it was not the end of armed conflict between nations; and so it now the commemoration is known as Veterans Day.

At some point every company must make a strategic decision if it is going to run its business by the letter of the law, or aspire to a higher standard.

Whether employee safety, environmental stewardship, labor relations, product quality, community relations, companies make this decision.

#investors understand the future is defined by looking forwards, not backward.
#Sustainability faces headwinds created by Trump’s anti-ESG and anti-renewables rhetoric and policies. But investors are smarter than Trump and - despite their reputation for short-terminism - are putting their money in the #cleantech growth markets

Good(ish) news! We're bending the #CO2 curve. For the first time, the #UN has predicted a fall of #emissions: 10% by 2035. Of course it falls way short of the 60% needed to stay within 1.5 degrees, but it is a significant milestone nevertheless.

Hurricane Melissa could be one of the most worst hurricanes on record for Jamaica...and it's a textbook example of how climate change is making hurricanes more dangerous: explosive intensification, slow movement, and massive rainfall.

Companies that abandon strategies that benefit their bottom line, reputation, relationships with customers, employees & suppliers because regulators no longer demand them do well to remember;

#compliance is not leadership. It will keep you out of the courts, but will never win you hearts & minds.

It is time we started calling people who create chaos but fail to achieve their stated objectives "agitators" rather than "influencers." Their goal is often self-promotion rather than actually bringing about any change - like being famous for being famous.

I could name names, but they want that.

You have to be willing to accept criticism of your core values. And you must be able to defend them in the face of questioning.

#SHRM members should come out in droves and politely counter the false narrative of anti #DEI crusader Robby Starbuck with data and examples.
