It’s (rightly) framed as transphobic because it does barely anything to further protect women (single sex spaces still exist) from male violence but it significantly increases the risk of male violence against trans women and trans men

The villain character is the give away. Perfection!

I can’t quite get over how good this is! Surely something that could only have been made by a massive Columbo fan?

But it does explain why a party should be allowed to do it, which is what you asked for

Woah you’re right, parenthood really is a lot like following English cricket. Right down to to the times when you worry an Australian dog does it better than any of us can

That’s right, it’s not a direct funding thing (like pupil premium) but the funding formula has a weighting based on EAL proportion so higher EAL = more funding. I hate to think how the Mail would twist that fact!

Actually I take that back slightly having re-read yours - the school would record them as being native English and German speakers. But on the census return would likely only submit them as being native German speakers.

As ever there’s nuance here but essentially yes, although it is fundamentally the parent that would decide what to tell the school is the child’s “first” language. The school would/can record all languages but only one would be submitted in the census

This is hardly the biggest issue with the article but the school census only records one language per pupil. So all/most/some/none (who knows!) of the pupils might speak fluent English either bilingually or as an additional language

Oof, this was grim! But I thought you both did amazingly well to rise above the barrage of nonsense and nothingness from the other side and make some really compelling arguments

I forget where I read it but to paraphrase/mangle: LLMs are highly trained human pleasing machines. That’s it. That is almost literally how they are trained - the only thing they really “know” is what we have told them a good output looks like.

The hardest I’ve laughed when not influenced by other people was a Ted Lasso joke:
Rebecca: “I spoke to the owner of the Sun”
Ted: “YOU SPOKE TO GOD?!

Ah yes, the fabled Octo-scrambler

I enjoyed “we didn’t stay inside.” I’m guessing they were playing Mario kart and recording from the radio for hours in the garden?

Finding out Keith Dunn is on Bluesky has just made my day! Love a bit of Berkeley madness. Will be tough to top last year’s drama

👏 Reid was right!

Ditto under pressure/Bambos Charalambous if I’m remembering that right. True genius

Were you also responsible for Living on a Prayer/Thangam Debbonaire or was that a fever dream? I think about it/chuckle every time I hear that song!

Spot on. Alexander called this on uncloaked, it just turned it into a classic prisoners dilemma so that it will always just essentially be a series of coin flips until they’re down to 2

I’d agree with you…if I hadn’t been introduced to the TimTam Slam. Turns an average Bickie into a spiritual experience
