This is my goal with "Lilly." She's trans, but the story isn't about her *being* trans, it's just about *her.* For the *parts* about her being trans, I want to bring in trans writers to collaborate with. Those will be mostly written by others with my overall guidance on the storyline.
The 2 big pieces of advice I can give are A) talk to real trans people. Whether it's friends or someone you hire as a sensitivity reader/coach, it is important and B) know what isn't your story to tell. A cis person telling a featuring trans folks? Great! A cis person telling A Trans Story? Less so

I still lived in Miami at the time. If you want to point at a singular moment that solidified the Cuban vote for the Republicans -- which was already pretty solid to begin with -- THAT was it.
just a reminder that the incident happened under Bill Clinton, a democrat. That man was VERY draconian with his administration's immigration policies. Democrats do not care about immigrants, much like republicans.
