The Fighter Pass begins with a Nintendo IP, Chibi-Robo. Up next is Kris from Deltarune, given Sakurai & Toby Fox’s friendship. Third is the protagonist of Hollow Knight, the “discarded vessel” or whatever. After that is Dr. Eggman (a new Sonic rep), and finally the long-awaited fan favourite Rayman!

If Link can get a design overhaul I think Samus can have one too, her suit in Dread is super slick and definitely needs more recognition. Zero Suit Samus just doesn’t feel unique enough to earn a spot in a condensed roster. The only way I see Ridley being cut though, is if there’s a Boss Rush mode.

Nintendo seems to be moving away from Wii Fit, so WFT is a likely cut (maybe Ring Fit replaces her?). I think Little Mac will be demoted back to an Assist Trophy and the 3 Miis get fused to a single “Mii” fighter. R.O.B. is also a logical cut, unfortunately. Most other franchises will probably stay.

Ganondorf is another character that could do with an adjusted moveset, maybe even an entire redesign based of Tears Of The Kingdom. I think the time has come to make him truly distinct from Captain Falcon. Sheik was a difficult cut but one that I think makes sense.

There’s a noticeable imbalance with male vs. female characters. One way to somewhat balance this would be for characters with male and female alts like Robin & Byleth to have the female as the default, instead of the male. That said, Corrin would be cut in my hypothetical, as would my boy Roy.

Something I’d like in the next Smash game is more updated movesets. Mario’s spin from Galaxy, Luigi having a Gooigi toss Side Special, a new Peach moveset based on Showtime, and BJR escaping his Clown Car prison would be neat. Rosalina & Piranha Plant seem like the most likely Mario series cuts.

Having cut a decent chunk of broad fighters I figured it’s now time to focus on each individual series. From Pokémon I cut Incineroar, Greninja & Lucario. My assumption was that Charizard would go back to a solo fighter. There’ll probably be a new Pokémon in the next Smash game too.
