Hello to recent new followers!

I guess I should give a brief introduction. I'm Josh and I've been working on the BBC's Design System team for over five years. My passion is CSS and I recently had the privilege of joining the CSSWG in the summer.

I hope to serve you all well. 🫡

And we're not getting any younger. 😭

The best bit was when they rotated the Enter key. 😂

Yes there was some weird reason that I can't remember about how British army bases need to be able to view the UK version of the website as well.

No, they should only have my mum's cooking. You don't want to see the beige meal she cooked for me when I visited yesterday. 😂

Yesssssss!!! Very happy to hear that!

It's going to be a key a11y feature for every website, so I hope I can have more opportunities to talk about it once it lands in the css-fonts specification.

It's surprising how much our websites (including the BBC's) really struggle with supporting increased text size.

I got to speak at our internal BBC conference, today, about what I've been involved with in the CSSWG: the new meta tag for websites to opt-in to respecting the text size accessibility settings in iOS and Android.
Photo of me presenting the talk on stage. In the foreground, there is a video camera recording me.

Yes I like that. @lukewarlow.dev has just suggested that on the issue.

However, you wouldn't be able to use the if() with prefers-color-scheme, because it doesn't use the *used* colour scheme. We'll need a new type of container query for that.
joshtumath.uk
Ah yeah of course. It's cyclic. We can't do that, then.

I'd love to hear your feedback! Should we be able to detect the used color scheme with a container query or a new pseudo-class?

@container color-scheme(dark) {
.header {
background-image: url("dark-bg.avif");
}
}

.header:color-scheme(dark) {
background-image: url("dark-bg.avif");
}

Thank you for writing this, our Dave! I hope the support you're getting will change things for you. Whether it's a long road or short, we'll always appreciate you and what you've done for us!

🤩 View Transitions excitement!

View Transitions are enabled by default in Firefox Nightly, so they're on their way to stable. Give it a test with your current transitions, and give me a shout if anything doesn't look right.

And the new nighttime show in the Disneyland park can be viewed from all down main street so don't feel like you have to get the prime spot in front of the castle.

Give yourself time to wander! Especially in adventureland.

Pirates of the Caribbean, phantom manor and it's a small world have very fast moving queues. Good to go on if the park is busy.

If you're there multiple nights, most rides are walk ons after 9 so good time for Big Thunder!

It looks like a mini Crystal Maze.
