It’s beginning to look a lot like spring!

The downside of working in tech and/or running a business is you don’t get to clock out at 5.

It’s hard to tell our brains to stop doing a thing and ignore it for the next 16 hours.

Hobbies beat scrolling for ‘re-tuning’ the brain.

The drone definitely makes it easy to switch right now!

I built this as part of a side project. Then I realised I could actually do with having a standalone tool like it for some of my clients.

Columns for scenario inputs and columns for expected outputs. This could pretty easily build test suites for REST APIs, GraphQL, databases, etc.

It’s been snowing since new year in Aberdeenshire, Scotland. I’m glad I don’t have anywhere to go!

I’m a pretty technical person and I’m finding a quiet and slow life has helped me find more balance.

Maybe #Scotland is the cure to burnout.

There’s a special word in the English language for something like this… it’s “holyfuckinshit.”

Nearly time to go back to thinking about work and business.

I’ve talked to a lot of business owners who are all about the hustle. I’m not one of those. Life is for living, work is for paying for living.

I chose my career for a reason, I love it, but on holidays I’d rather be out looking at this.

Good morning from Aberdeenshire, Scotland!

So, we have great internet in the middle of nowhere, which has made it possible to work from where I want to live.

But when it snows, getting groceries home can become a little less convenient…

The snow arrived and I managed to get some drone time in.

This was a bit of fun. Id been launching from my hand all day, but this time I launched from a flat rock and got this nice flurry of snow during the takeoff. ❄️

It wasn’t too shabby at all!

We had a different type of fireworks last night.

Happy New Year!

Looking pretty impressive out there at the moment.

I’ve got the big camera out doing a timelapse. I’m really hoping that turns out.

Hope everyone is having a great New Year’s Eve!

Flying over golden fields in the glorious sunshine feels like a good way to wrap up the year.

Woo! I managed to pull off this little rotation relatively smoothly.

We’re surrounded by lots of countryside, hills and small stone buildings like this. Sometimes it dawns on me that we’ve moved somewhere people come for holidays. (Aberdeenshire, Scotland)

Using my drone to spy on the locals. 🦌 😁

And for something a little more enjoyable on my birthday. 🎂

Had a lot on today, but didn’t have to rush this morning and got to enjoy playing with my new drone and watch a nice sunrise.
December 28, 2024 at 5:11 PM
I took the drone out for another flight this morning. Already getting easier to use and the sunrise and fog really made it spectacular.

Things I’m learning about having a drone.

1. They’re pretty cool.
2. I need a faster sd card.
3. You can’t see in fog.

Do you think the bald spot on top of my head would work as a landing platform?
December 26, 2024 at 12:50 PM
Oh my. I must have been good this year. I found a drone under the tree.

I’m not sure I NEEDED a camera I can crash, but it’s definitely a fun toy!

Merry Christmas all! Doesn’t feel like Christmas Eve with it being so warm, but I won’t argue with a sunset like this!
December 24, 2024 at 5:03 PM
Is it wrong that I'm more excited that this might finally kill the idea of l33tcode tests in interviews than I am about it actually being able to do anything else? 😆

Honestly, I can see new tools changing the way software engineering works and the potential space it leaves for growth is awesome.

Very nice sunrise this morning. Tilly seemed to agree and couldn’t contain the excitement.

Not a new one, but I’ve always loved how pink and almost fluffy the aurora was for this shot.

I didn’t even consider when we moved to Scotland that we’d be able to see it much more often and we’ve had a good year for it! 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Also, those bulbs will pay off! We’ve got one section of our garden that’s just phenomenal come spring thanks to snowdrops, crocuses and, later, daffodils.
