Encouraging info from CM Chavez. My issue here is that the entire history of Big Tech is doing illegal things and daring people to stop them, which rarely happens. We need to say a robot can't drive AND provide a framework for strong penalties when the companies inevitably ignore that law.
My understanding is that state law requires a human driver.

According to MPR, Waymo hired lobbyists to explore the possibility of changing state laws to allow for the operation of autonomous vehicles.

I’d be supportive of an ordinance that requires a human to be physically present.

Yes, an important test for the midterms.
If ICE agents begins harassing voters on the way to vote on Tuesday, we need local prosecutors to charge the ICE officers with state law crimes. We need to send a message for 2026 that they will be swiftly arrested.

People need to realize that the republicans have effectively dissolved Congress that Trump
May very well never step in to turn it back on.

The republicans who back Trump at a high level have been saying that is their goal for decades.
Sen. Mark Warner (D-VA), vice-chair of Senate Intelligence Committee, tells Face the Nation that the shutdown won't end until Trump gets involved in brokering a deal

"My Republican colleagues can't move on anything without a Trump sign-off"

The president thinks federal goons haven’t been violent *enough* with the American people.

The president seems to hope that his thugs will kill someone soon.
Q: Americans have been watching videos of ICE tackling a young mother, tear gas being used in a Chicago residential neighborhood, and the smashing of car windows. Have some of these raids gone too far?"

Trump: "No. I think they haven't gone far enough”

Anyone else looking at the Trumpite deployment of the aircraft carrier USS Gerald R Ford to the Caribbean in the supposed "war against drug cartels" and thinking of the Gulf of Tonkin incident? Just me? Cool, cool cool cool cool. 🤨😬🫣

Heck, if you really need to link this back to kitchen-table-kitchen-table-kitchen-table, it's easy to do: While Trump is driving costs through the roof with his unhinged tariff spree and other reckless, failed policies, he's looting $230 million from the US Treasury and sticking it in his pocket.
Democrats should be drawing up legislation right now, this very minute, to bar Trump from helping himself to $230 million in taxpayer funds from DOJ. Challenge Republicans to hold a vote on it. Push this so hard in the media that every GOP Senate and House candidate is pressed to comment on it.

In all seriousness, seeing Trump demolish the East Wing to build a gilded ballroom for his wealthy donors is stomach-churning stuff.

The Administration claims no congressional approval or historic-preservation review was needed before demolition began.

That should alarm everyone.

No Kings was a huge success. Just look at Trump's response.
Turnout was enormous. There was no violence. And the wannabe king is triggered.

In social movement studies, we talk about how marches and protests expand the threshold of acceptable risk so that people take more and bigger social risks IN PUBLIC, EN MASSE. This is extremely important for the bourgeois white folks holding signs and building social rapport.
Not a shitpost: #NoKings is feel-good performative activism for comfortable mostly upper and upper middle class white folks and that’s good, actually. Millions of people in the streets protesting a fascist regime is good. It is good for the normie baseline to be massive displays of public dissent.

Any news organization that says Trump "posted a fake video of him dumping shit on Americans" is clearer and more informative than the New York Times. The Times' political coverage is useless at best, but essentially pro-fascist.
President Trump posted what appeared to be an A.I.-generated video on social media showing him wearing a crown and flying a jet labeled “King Trump” that dumps brown liquid on protesters. He shared the video on Saturday, the same day that protesters participated in mass “No Kings” demonstrations.
