I made some empirical tests comparing ChatGPT 4.0 vs. DeepSeek-R1 in creating rather complicated Stored Procedures by providing an SQL schema and some prompting side-by-side. To my surprise, DeepSeek outperformed ChatGPT. Exciting times!

Microsoft has opensourced MarkItDown. The MarkItDown library is a utility tool in Python for converting various files to Markdown. Pretty useful when you need to index PDF's and office docs for searching in standard search or RAG.
