@ethankocak.com the Desert Tegu has eluded me so far, it is unusually skittish.

I see tracks on the sand everywhere but I only see it from afar.

On the other hand, I took pictures of a Knobbed Iguana (at least that is what iNaturalist says), I would have guessed it was an anole of some kind.

The local name for the Peruvian Desert Tegu is Cañan.

Found this one yesterday walking on the beach.

If I manage to take a decent picture of the Peruvian Desert Tegu that lives on the empty lot next door with my cell I'll share it.

I had a silly idea, it may be original.

I am on the northern coast of Peru and, subject to legal constraints, the limitations of my Apollo era hardware, and toolset provided by the hotel, I may take a closer look where directed.

Below is a sample of pictures.
Rock covered limu 'aki 'aki a greenish algae that grows on the surf zone of rocks in this beach. A silly looking yellow crowned night heron perched on a conglomerate rock. The bird is a long boi, no shoulders and spindly legs. The sand of the beach covers most of the ground and different layers can be seen in the distance. Sand pellets rolled by painted ghost crabs after high tide. The picture is taken very low above the ground. A greenish blue house is on the far right, slightly out of focus. The sky is clear and blue. A large cluster of gooseneck barnacles covered in green algae have been exposed by the low tide.

Amazingly clear night in Lima, Peru (go ahead, laugh).

I can see Alpha Centauri and Hadar further up I can see the Southern Cross.

Here is a remarkably clear image taken with a handheld phone.

Spectacular blood moon from Lima, Perú.

I am so lucky to be here and witness this amazing astronomical event.

A couple of buildings are visible through the heavy fog tinged orange by the mercury vapor lights elsewhere in Lima. The bloody moon should be overhead approaching totality for tonight's lunar eclipse. But alas, the moon is not visible at all.
