The US basically lost the stomach to keep on fighting a losing war and so abandoned the people it previously called allies to the mercy of enemies who the purged the population of US collaborators and sympathizers.

Call it whatever ... The US lost the Vietnam war.

Perhaps your history is fuzzy.

Kissinger and Le negotiated the Paris Accords, signed in Jan '73.

The US agreed at that time to withdraw all troops within 60 days, but in reality we had started pulling out troops in '69 and the last US infantry left in 8/72.

The Japanese surrendered. The Allied forces could have let Korea be. But no, the US and the Soviets split it in two so they could go tit for tat.

Vietnam was a French mistake that the Americans decided to prolong, and it only ended when the US lost that guerilla war and had to flee the country.

Who decided on the 38th parallel that preceded the DMZ?
December 1, 2025 at 12:43 AM
Yup. That's right.

Vietnam war? That was a total ass kicking and it wasn't America doing the ass kicking.

Again, the point is the Koreans didn't get to choose whether or not they'd be OK with their nation split in two to suit "American interests."

And the VC did choose and then kicked our arses.

As for Vietnam, a war reunited that nation ... A war that the Americans fought at great costs to resources and lives, and one the Americans eventually lost.

The point remains that when the Americans and Soviets divvied up Korea into two, they did so without asking the Koreans what they thought about it.

I think it's strange to construct the situation as one where the South Koreans could choose to reunite with the North now.

I'd argue our intentions are almost never about desirable outcomes for the foreign places involved, are rarely about good outcomes for the American people, and are very often about the needs and wants of America's corporate machinery.

Our foreign aid comes with a lot of strings attached.

Did the Koreans have a choice about the 38th parallel, or about how the cold war between the US and the Soviet Union created two separate Koreas?
November 30, 2025 at 10:16 PM
We Americans sow seeds of destruction and chaos all over the world.

When things fall apart, we shrug and simply move on to the next project.

When they look back on all this, they're going to regard the last three seasons of consecutive second place finishes as foundational seasons to the dynasty Arteta is currently installing.

When Arteta and his squad win their title, it won't be a one-off. It'd be the first of several.

I thought there was a clear distance between Calafiori and MLS in terms of their contributions specially when on the ball.

I thought Eze was also quiet for the most part and if Zubimendi hadn't been in card trouble, he would have stayed on and made a difference.

Notice Chelsea actually showed themselves to be a capable footballing team once they stopped being fouling c*nts?
November 30, 2025 at 9:21 PM
Thing is that Stoke was relatively shit at football, and Chelsea actually has talented players.

If Chelsea were to focus on playing football, they might turn out to be contenders. Instead they growled and pushed and kicked and fouled and played recklessly and in an overly physical way.
November 30, 2025 at 9:19 PM
They're the most OPENLY corrupt and lawless administration in US history.

Other administrations had been pretty bad, but they'd been clever enough to mask their crimes.
November 30, 2025 at 9:12 PM
Yeah, but his knee ...!
November 30, 2025 at 9:11 PM
Arsenal have 10 goals from corners/free kicks.
Chelsea have 9 goals from corners/free kicks.

What are you talking about?
November 30, 2025 at 6:54 PM
Calafiori, MLS, Mosquera cards were tactical fouls stopping breaks.

Gyokeres card came from him contesting for that ball that Martinez coughed up.

Our players never try to hurt the opposition. A few Chelsea players deliberately provoked a physical match and it boiled over for Caicedo.
November 30, 2025 at 6:51 PM
I think you're right, but I seriously wonder how many of these boys are close to being in the red zone.

Calafiori looked in pain towards the end of the first half.
November 30, 2025 at 6:48 PM
Chelsea actually have quality, and if they focus on playing ball instead of on being angry and on trying to hurt people, they'd actually be a contender.
November 30, 2025 at 6:47 PM
Martinelli/Gyokeres/Madueke
Eze/Norgaard/Ødegaard
MLS/Hincapie/Mosquera/White
Raya

Rest Rice, Saka, Zubimendi, Calafiori, Timber ... And I want to see Eze and Ødegaard again.
November 30, 2025 at 6:45 PM
I wouldn't mind Norgaard, White, MLS, Gyokeres, Ødegaard, Madueke and Martinelli all starting.

Get Jesus some minutes, too.
November 30, 2025 at 6:39 PM
Missing both CBs, plus Trossard plus Calafiori for the second half.
November 30, 2025 at 6:38 PM
I'd rather take calm, controlled and in control over crazy.
