I see pieces like this a lot, often w/ a spin of lamenting cultural degeneration, but reading is a LABOR issue, it’s declined because so many people are working overtime or two jobs & employers expect after hours work. France has Earth’s highest reading rate b/c long lunch breaks & labor protections

from there my deck was capable of buying Dominate every turn and theirs wasn't, and that was that. (it was also important that they didn't hit Goat from Search, and possibly relevant that they added Distant Shores which are a neat synergy with BoM-XR, but not nearly worth passing up CQ.

game 6 my opponent drew quite a lot better than me in the open and punished my greedy flag bearer pretty hard. they had more Searches in play and more BoM in deck, which is _most_ of what mattered at that point... but I just kept buying CQ and managed to snag the perma-Flag by buying the last 2.

game 5 i'm supposed to win as p1, even with the worse 5/2, but i badly misjudged the usefulness of Ronin, which can never realistically draw more than 2 cards, and opened with it. after that i'm supposed to lose, but p1 tempo plus near-optimal draws on the last shuffle let me barely squeak it out.

game 4 was extremely close, i ALMOST threw it by not buying an estate on what was extremely likely to be my last turn. but i did play better, identified that the raw speed of Tanuki+Skulk meant it wasn't worth investing in Harbor Villages. I probably should have had /one/ though.

anyway i was way ahead but after we both fully dudded they randomly had a dramatically above average final turn and won by 1

game 3 was the sloggiest game i've played in recent memory. i think my approach of going for triple Conquest over double prov to try to have meaningful econ in the late late game was probably correct, but my opponent did identify Rice being relevant before i did...

won game 2 because i understood the Sea Trade + Foray interaction right away and my opponent didn't; I also managed it quite nicely and ended up with like 4 loots to 0 which was way too much to come back from

in today's match against dim886, i lost game 1 i think because i didn't expect the Cutthroat stalemate to last so long and didn't respect the importance of an early GM as the only +buy, so i took a Mapmaker when they took Mill and had very low odds of hitting 6 without copper.

made it to the round of 16 in the Dominion Online Championship! for top 8 i have to beat the newcomer who upset JNails, the first seed... should be exciting!

it was hard for me to believe this post was only two years old so i searched twitter and both confirmed that that is the original... and found this incredible account

Magic Lamp has gifted JNails his 2nd title in game 4, seemingly against his will
jseakle.bsky.social
JNails has thrown game 2 of the Dominion League championship to tracer in tragic fashion :(

but he only needs to win one of the remaining 4 to clinch it :)

but now he has also thrown game 3 :(

successfully got C and L to start 1000xRESIST. it's only been like two weeks but it's already great to see the beginning again, noticing stuff in a new light, seeing the craft, seeing their reactions, but mostly just coming home to the characters. i might like this thing even more than i thought.

As someone who's been paying attention for this long, it's crystal clear, for tons and tons of reasons I can go into if someone wants me to, but my point here is, it's genuinely hard to be sure which accusations are true. I don't think there's a shortcut. You have to put in the time.
