Tonight, I finished off my favorite bottle of whiskey.

I’ve shared pours of this with many folks here at home, and at conferences. At the end, it was just a Thursday night pour on a rough week that finished it off.

Drink your best whiskey, share with others. Life is short.

Oh boy, Friday night emergency firewall upgrade to improve IPv6 support.

May the odds be ever in my favor.

When I hear “we are a couple years away from AGI,” all I can hear are sales people telling me “20xx is the year of VDI” or Linux folks saying “this is the year of desktop Linux.”

It’s just folks saying what they hope is true, because they want to sell it to you.

There isn’t really anything in my job that scares me. Give me a project and I’ll figure it out.

But building an engine for my project car with my dad has me scared. Months of planning, thousands of $ in machining and parts, it comes down to getting everything right down to a thousandth of an inch.

The difference between data driven and data informed.

My whoop says I should be pushing hard today. But I feel exhausted. If I was driven by data, i would go do another hard ride on the indoor bike.

Being informed by data, i look at the data and use it as one input, not the only input.

Idaho parks and rec’s new campsite reservation system is failing under load.

Why am I not surprised?

Fun games I play in the garage after a project: is it blood, or is it loctite?

What to do with days off work?

My wife: Clean and organize the house!

So I printed a bunch of hat holders.

12 down, 300 to go.

If you are going to attend #WLPC in Phoenix, this deep dive should be high on your list.

GPS/GNSS is going to be a much bigger part of Wi-Fi due to the reliance on these technologies for 6GHz.
I’ll be teaching a deep dive at #WLPC Phoenix 2025 on GNSS (GPS and friends). Come learn about how amazingly good and cheap centimeter level accuracy is. GNSS is a huge deal for AFC and indoor location, come learn all about it. You’ll get multiple GNSS kits and we will have lots of fun labs!

For those of you who don’t take the “Jake Snyder” approach to thanksgiving day turkey, bookmark this video on cooking a frozen turkey.

It could save the day.

I know I’m 4 years late to this question, but how TF do you dial in new beans for espresso when you can’t taste anything?

My guess is just something that pulls in 25-30 seconds.

I don’t understand what would motivate someone to rent a plane to fly a hurtful message over a town.

It’s just hating folks who are different than you.

Hope everyone had a great #BoisePrideFest!

@johnk.bsky.social I dropped my WDT tool this morning and bent a needle. Told my wife now I needed a moonraker.

You are such a bad influence.

While I can’t say I like it as much as python, I’ve been learning Go for a project at work.

While nicer than C++, I still enjoy loosely typed languages more.
