Ms. York, your email of Monday was forwarded to my office for a response, thank you for reaching out and I appreciate your feedback on the 2025 Bellwood Memorial Lecture speaker choice.
As noted on the event registration, per Judge Sherman J. Bellwood's endowment to the University of Idaho College of Law, this year's Bellwood Memorial Lecture speaker was jointly selected by Idaho Law Dean Aviva Abramovsky, Idaho Supreme Court Chief Justice G. Richard Bevan and Idaho State Bar Immediate Past President Mary York. No state-appropriated funds are used to support the lecture.
The Bellwood Lecture has for many years hosted prominent leaders in law to provoke thought and drive hard conversations among the next generation of Idaho lawyers. University of Idaho does not endorse the political or social stance of any Bellwood speaker but instead looks for speakers who bring a variety of legal perspectives.
Sherman J. Bellwood's legacy in the state is one of honor, active community and civic participation and thoughtful practice of law. The university strives to represent this legacy through intellectual engagement and thoughtful exchange of ideas.
The university leads with its values of excellence, respect, integrity, perseverance and stewardship.
