Thanks for the reply! I will put you on the list to reach out to next year. If you want to send me any information about the VA Tech program(s), I can share with our chemistry and BMB students.

Any professors from graduate programs in sciences want to be a part of a Zoom session for University of Richmond undergraduate students interested in applying? I'd love to add a few more to my roster especially in the chemical or biochemical sciences. It would be next Tuesday at noon Eastern.

Rising junior BMB major Lauren did not do research on campus, but she secured a summer internship at MIT working with kids with autism. She reflects on it on the blog today: blog.richmond.edu/pollocklab/2... You can also read about the awesome soccer program that Lauren started last year at UR!

Every year I have my summer undergraduate students write a blog post related to their research (or a scientific concept that interests them). This is the first year since we've migrated to BlueSky! I will add the blog posts to this thread as the students post on our website this summer.

THIS IS IT! THIS IS HUGE!!

PLAINTIFF'S WIN!!

Judge Young rules that the NIH grant terminations at issue in these cases are illegal and therefore vacated. BOOM!

"This Court rules that the challenged directives . . . are arbitrary and capricious."

"They are of no force and effect."

"They are illegal and so are each of the terminations before this Court"

I'm sorry. I stopped typing and just listened. I'll post summaries as they're published.

But the end was that Judge Young went on to defend judicial independence and to underscore the perilous moment in American history where racial discrimination is tolerated.

He ends with "Have we no shame?"

If you weren't angry enough already, here are the rates of non-competitive renewals through May.

4008 Non-competitive renewals were due to be funded in May.

The total funded was 99!

Some is due to terminations, but most is due to slow grant making due to DOGE review and other impediments.
